A Little (or long) Introduction

Hello, there! As this is my first post, I wanted to do a little introduction so that whoever may be reading this kinda gets the feel of who I am and what my blog content will be. To start off, I would like to say I have no idea what I'm doing (maybe this isn't a great start, but it's true). I'm sort of new to online platforms and I'm not very good at the technological side of things, but I'm crossing my fingers this goes as I had imagined! Now to the generic introducing myself part: Hi my name is Emily, I am 17 years old and I have recently moved to England from the US. I have been here for about 6 months and up until now I had never moved anywhere in my entire life. I am from a small town in Tennessee and let me tell you, as you would imagine this is the biggest change I have ever experienced. The opportunity came up for me to come here because my sister is in the Air Force and is currently stationed here. She called and asked sometime last fall if I would like to come here and live with her for a while before I left for college. She said she thought it was a good idea because we don't get to spend a lot of time with each other. She entered the Air Force at 19, when I was 4 so we haven't really had the time to bond with one another. My purpose for moving was simply because I wanted to experience something new and different. I have lived in Tennessee for the past 17 years and I have never gotten out of that "bubble" so to say. I wanted to at least say I have tried something so utterly different than what I am used to. This is kind of a personal journey of mine, I just realize now that sounds like I'm going through some kind of mid-life, Eat Pray Love-style crisis, but that's how I feel about it. Sorry for the long background info, but now on to the reason why I started this blog. I have always been drawn to fashion ever since I could remember, like way way back. When I was in elementary school I used to sit and watch E news with my mom (her favorite show) and excitedly wait for the fashion segment to come on. I used to put together outfits on whatever was "in trend" according to them at the time. Most of the time I used to go to elementary school looking ridiculous, I never got the layering look down and would ultimately end up piling a ridiculous assortment of things on my tiny body. Anyway, back to the present. My love of fashion still runs strong and last year I discovered the blogger Mermaidens, I immediately fell in love with her blog. I love anything that brings elements of tv, music, or movies to life and I especially love it when it's incorporated into fashion. Kailey does a wonderful job of creating a 50's mermaid dream come to life and her collaboration with Hana Haley is the exact aesthetic I wish to achieve. Her identity prompted me to start my own blog and after a year of accumulating all the necessities of starting one (camera, tripod, courage, ect.) here I am! I wish for this to be a platform to share all of the creative things I produce, whether that be my outfits or photography. I am very sporadic by nature and I usually never stick to one "theme" or "aesthetic" for long periods of time. I can get inspired by mostly anything and when I do, I usually incorporate it into outfits or photography. The reason I love photography so much is that it encapsulates special moments or moods in our life and produces it into a visual that will last forever. Oh, and while we're on the subject of visuals, let me explain my blog name really quick. It's just simply because I adore flowers, they're the one thing that I never will get sick of and you will see I wear A LOT of floral print, it's kind of obsessive (hence the name thefloralfreak). So, to end off I hope that this goes well and I hope to learn more about myself along the way and maybe inspire a few others. Thanks to anyone that is reading this!

  1. I'm so excited for your new chapter Emily - not only moving to England (what an incredible opportunity) and also starting a blog! I love your layout, and I'm eagerly awaiting seeing the photos you take and outfits you create and hopefully share on your new platform! It means the world to me I had a hand in inspiring you to start a blog of your own, and I can't wait to watch it grow!

    Lots of love,
    Kailey
